Description
The tendency to judge harmful actions as worse, or less moral, than equally harmful omissions (inactions).
Omission bias in business decision
A manager might be judged less harshly for failing to invest in a new safety feature (omission) that could have prevented an accident, than for implementing a new procedure (action) that inadvertently caused one.
Omission bias in personal life decision
You feel it's worse to give your friend bad advice than to say nothing, even if your silence leads to them making a mistake.
